The Maison Louis Quatorze was founded in 1980 by Paul Barrate, a Versailles leather craftsman. Wishing to reinterpret in the modern way, the culture and art of the French nobility of the seventeenth century, as well as the craft spirit of the time, Paul Barrate is inspired by the Sun King to choose the name of his brand. Louis XIV was a man of refined taste who knew how to recognize beauty. It was also in the 17th century that the Palace of Versailles was built, haute couture was fashionable and the diamond was called the jewel of the crown.
What deserves to be called luxury is something exceptional, renowned for its quality as a work of art. In reality, legitimately, luxury is craftsmanship and communication within art. The desire to communicate with our customers and bring out the best and only the best is what we tend to do every day. Louis Quatorze sought to achieve this true luxury, to find a new inspiration and imagination where some had not yet gone.
Paul Barrate, then, at the creation of the brand, opened the first Louis Quatorze workshop-shop on the Place de la Madeleine in Paris, also sign of elegance and refinement.
